I have been passionate about politics since my youth. The idea of politics itself has become increasingly important to me. European integration and its acceptance by the population have taken on particular significance for me. Like democracy and the rule of law, the European Union is one of the foundations of our life in peace, freedom and prosperity. I am therefore still delighted that I was able to stand for election in the 2009 European elections as the Newropeans' top candidate in Germany.
I was born in 1957 in Backnang, in the Rems-Murr district of Baden-Württemberg. I studied public administration at the University of Konstanz and political science at the Free University of Berlin. I have a degree in political science. Our family has moved several times. Three decades ago we found a home in the Rhine-Main area. This gave me the opportunity to work for many years as a press officer in the administration of a small town.
I am grateful for the opportunities I have had. That's why I try to give something back to society, both in my professional life and in my civic engagement. Because nothing can be taken for granted. And especially in a democracy, citizens have a great responsibility. If it is to survive, we cannot do without their critical contribution - with heart and mind.
