Sometimes the most interesting things happen right under our noses and we don't realise it. Or do you remember the Conference on the Future of the EU? The realisation of the Capital Markets Union is currently on the European and national political agenda. President Macron mentioned it as a key building block for the future in his speech at the Sorbonne on 25 April 2024. Christophe Braouet explains the importance of the Capital Markets Union in an interview with Eurolandpost.

As a result of the war in Ukraine, Europe is starting to build its own powerful defence industry. And this is just one of many steps that will lead to more independence for the EU in politics and economics. More sovereignty also means more democracy.

For weeks there have been demonstrations in Germany against the "right" or "extreme right". The consequences are not all positive: They can even increase social polarisation and do little to solve the problem.

There are so-called Hallelujah Europeans who believe that Europe's nation states can be dispensed with in the foreseeable future. To bank on this would be a serious political mistake. For it could endanger European integration itself. That, in turn, would not be in the interest of the citizens at all. For national and European politics to serve the people, however, one important prerequisite must be in place - democracy.

"Spitzenkanditat" and "Schicksalsgemeinschaft", two German words that appeared in the European debate a few years ago. Not without reason ...
